IN MY THOUGHTS OF LATE : SOME THOUGHTS ON MY FATHER (1)

He would not have seen
from here
the view west
as the end-of-May sun
edges into the frame
and warms & lights-up
his old room
where i sit
this afternoon
listening to the sounds
of a Chinese bamboo flute
he would have had an empty sky...

He would not have seen
these tops of trees
his plum   his bay
or the neighbour's sweet chestnuts
for they now clear the sill
altogether changed
since his passing
he would have had an empty sky...

He would not have seen
too much of the sky
bed covers pulled over his head
dying
 cocooned from the world
&
i recall one of "his" famous lines...
"The old order changeth
making way for new"
[MORTE D'ARTHUR]
if my memory serves me well!

Here
in his old room
 i will follow
more like
some "crazy cloud"
or one of those speeding
 wheeling doves
in an ever-changing sky...
