SITTING OUT ON BEACH FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS THIS MORNING

"After a time, habituated to spending so many hours a day on my bike, I became less and less interested in my friends."

I'M GOIN' OUT IN A STORM

I'M GOIN' OUT
IN A STORM
WHEN THE TIME COMES
I'M GOIN' OUT
*
I'M GOIN' OUT
IN A STORM
AT THE RIGHT TIME
I'M GOIN' OUT
LIKE A LIGHT
*
I'M GOIN' OUT
WHATEVER THE TIME
FEARS OR NO FEARS
IN A STORM
*
I'M GOIN' OUT
IN A STORM
GOIN' OUT WITH CARESSES
KISSES AND TEARS
IN A STORM
*
I'M GOIN' OUT
INTO THE LIGHT
 WHITE NIGHT
OF THE STORM
WHEN I GO OUT
*
I'M GOIN' OUT
I'M STORMIN' OUT
GONNA KICK-UP A STORM

MY ART EDUCATION WAS SADLY LACKING

i remember terms
and terms
of lessons in HERALDRY

i remember only
one painting i did
of a PICKET FENCE
around a HOUSE
by a LAKE
sort-of
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE-style

i remember FLOSSIE
of the UPPER SIXTH
posed NUDE
for the ART MASTER
after school
neither was expelled

i think my ART education
was sadly lacking
but THANK-GOODNESS
for BALIERE'S ATLAS of ANATOMY
from which
us children learned
much at home

AND thanks
to the DICTIONARY of SLANG
in the reference library
in town
we learned to
love BOOKS full of WORDS...

IN MY THOUGHTS OF LATE : SOME THOUGHTS ON MY FATHER (1)

He would not have seen
from here
the view west
as the end-of-May sun
edges into the frame
and warms & lights-up
his old room
where i sit
this afternoon
listening to the sounds
of a Chinese bamboo flute
he would have had an empty sky...

He would not have seen
these tops of trees
his plum   his bay
or the neighbour's sweet chestnuts
for they now clear the sill
altogether changed
since his passing
he would have had an empty sky...

He would not have seen
too much of the sky
bed covers pulled over his head
dying
 cocooned from the world
&
i recall one of "his" famous lines...
"The old order changeth
making way for new"
[MORTE D'ARTHUR]
if my memory serves me well!

Here
in his old room
 i will follow
more like
some "crazy cloud"
or one of those speeding
 wheeling doves
in an ever-changing sky...
